What we offer

Think of the app Houzz, except for the hair and beauty space.

1) Find inspiration by browsing a gallery of thousands of hair images.

2) Organize your favorite hair ideas to shareable look books”.

3) Select a group of inspiring hair ideas and, using the “Match style” feature, compare them to a photo-database of all participating salon professionals’ work portfolios to find a pro whose work product and creative style best matches what the user is seeking.

4) Communicate and connect with any stylist via an in-app messaging feature.

Challenges

The biggest challenge involves building out a machine learning model for use in developing an algorithm for the Match Up feature. Beyond that the standard development of a working mobile app MVP.

Our Story

The idea of Karmadea was the result of a conversation with a group of women colleagues and a group of hairstylists at a fashion convention held in Charleston, SC. The majority of the talk surrounded problems facing women whenever they begin the challenging journey of changing their hairstyle, cut, or color. Afterword, some research showed that women on average change their hairstyle over 150 times over their lives, and the hair space is a multi-billion dollar market with few technological aides to improve it.
